Heidi Lee was in studio and wanted to talk about breakfast.  She went with her family to Ronnie’s Cafe 4323 East Cactus Road  Phoenix, AZ   (602) 548-5857.  She had a bowl of chili and her daughter had a perfectly cooked 6 oz. sirloin with fried potatoes and a biscuit.   it was only $5.99.  Prepare to wait there was a line out the door.  It only took 10 minutes and Heidi says it was well worth the wait.  It had flowered oil cloth table cloths, mugs you can buy off the wall.  It was like a grandmothers kitchen.  It was named after the owners daughter.  She also likes to go to the Deer Valley airport restaurant 702 W Deer Valley Rd, Phoenix, AZ   (623) 582-5454 for the Huevos Rancheros.

Susan from Scottsdale like the  The Breakfast club 4400 N. Scottsdale Rd. #100 (Northwest corner of Scottsdale & Stetson)  Susan also said that good coffee is most important at a breakfast restaurant and they have good coffee.

MaryAnne in Tempe  likes an omelet.. She really likes the unusual omelets at Mimi’s Cafe

Susan in Scottsdale suggests buying the 2 pound cheese platter at Fresh & Easy, it is now on sale for $5.99.  A great value.  Use the cheese for grilled cheese, mac & cheese and any other cheese need, it is not just for entertaining.

Barbara in Tempe recommends that we take advantage of all of the lemons in season.  Squeeze the lemon juice and put it in ice cube trays and freeze.  Release and store in baggies in your freezer.  Kim recommends zesting them also and put the zest in a little baggie in the freezer.

Regina in Queen Creek loves her new convection oven.  She suggests that you get rid of the microwave and use a convection.  It heats everything faster and things stay moist.   She also likes Fresh & Easy’s freshly prepared entrees.  She loves the chicken Teriyaki

Dan in Scottsdale says when you are making ribs, remove the membrane, it allows the rub or marinade to penetrate the meat.    It is easy to take it off  if you grab it with a dry wash cloth and pull, it comes off like butter!

Angela in Scottsdale called and raved about her the Golden Buddha,668 North 44th Street Phoenix, AZ  (602) 286-9888.  She said “YUMMEE”.  She gave a shout out to her server Helen.  Helen did a great job.  She tried the Dim Sum and loved the shrimp and spinach dumplings.

She also went to  Taiwan Food Express at 66 S Dobson Rd in Mesa, AZ (480) 668-9888 at the Meekong market.  The lunch was fantastic.  They had a $6.00 lunch special that she got 2 meals, the portions were generous.

Fran in mesa went to the Acacia Café 3701 East Indian School Road Phoenix, Az 5128 - (602) 956-0908.  She was very impressed.  Fran had the half a sandwich with soup and her husband had the rueben.  The waitress was exceptional.

Maryanne in Tempe also went to the Acacia Café 3701 East Indian School Road Phoenix, Az 5128 - (602) 956-0908.– the food was very good.  It is a neat little place.  She had the Belgium waffle.  They also tried the roasted turkey sandwich.  It was delicious.  The waitress was very good and the prices are great.  They will go back.  MaryAnne reminded us that they make a Monte Christo sandwich on their Sunday Brunch menu.

Cathy from Phoenix called in today about Cafe Rhumba 5940 West Union Hills Drive, Glendale, AZ (602) 298-2289‎.  She loves the chicken with the mango salsa.  This is one of her favorite places.

8 slices bacon
1 tomato, seeded and chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
3 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp dried basil
1 – 16 ounce can refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough (regullar size, not Grands)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.   Lightly grease a mini muffin pan.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp.  Drain on paper towels. Crumble bacon into a medium bowl, and mix with tomato, onion, cheese, mayo and basil.
Separate biscuits into halves horizontally.  Press each half into prepared muffin tin.  Fill with the bacon mixture. Bake for 10 -12 minutes in preheated oven or until golden.  Repeat with remaining biscuits and filling.  Can be baked and rewarmed.

Regina in Mesa went to the Fired Up Grill 7131 W. Ray Rd. . She had the  Brushetta , it had chunks of tomatoes rather than a salsa topping and she loved it.   They had the steak and  the marinara with fettuccine.  They enjoyed it.  The wait service was all men and so nice.

Carol in Chandler was a  1st time caller.  She went to  Pittsburgh Willies 1509 N. Arizona Ave. Chandler.  after church.  Randy, the owner is so nice and so friendly –the chili dog was amazing.  They also tried the big Willie.   It is shaved  ham and cheese on a bun with a hot dog-  Her daughter said it was like the best melted ham and cheese with a hot dog.

Paul in Mesa went to the Pork Shop in Queen Creek  3359 E. Combs Rd. Queen Creek, AZ  (480) 987-0101.  He bought a tenderloin there.  He and his wife were commenting on how the pork tasted so fresh and didn’t have an after taste as the other pork products he buys has.  They loved it.  His wife and son tried the burritos there. They were wonderful.  Kim suggested you try their peppered bacon and their homemade sausages.  YUM

Debbie in Gilbert went to Croshaws Gourmet Pies 6731 East Brown Road Mesa, AZ 8  (480) 832-7437on the SW corner of Brown Power in Mesa. Her husband had the chicken pot pie-, delicious.  They also have big fresh baked rolls that  comes with your soup.  They are  3” x 3” . She had the broccoli cheese soup.  They have  fruit pies and  lunch and dinner specials. Save room for the large cinnamon rolls.

Debbie and a group of friends  went to the Landmark Restaurant 809 West Main Street
Mesa, AZ 85201-7105 (480) 962-4652.  The hostess told them  all of their big tops would be reserved for the evening so no table was available and the hostess would not give them an approximate wait time.  They got disgusted and left.  She will never go back there. They ended up at Charlestons very accommodation .  She had the chicken piccata with garlic mashed and the prime rib  sandwich looked really good.

John in Tempe – He just bought a big batch of kitchen sponges. He prolongs their use and cleanliness by putting them wet in the microwave oven for 2 minutes.  It sterilizes it.  Great idea. I use it also!

Jim from Scottsdale just bought a veggie juicer.  He spent a lot of money and bought the Vitamix.  It take a lot of carrots to make one glass of juice.

Natasha in Phoenix just bought a citrus juicer so she can enjoy all of the citrus on the trees in her yard.

Steve in Scottsdale bought a retro juicer atTuesday morning.  It is called a  typhoon.  It is all metal and not electric.  He loves it.

Regina in Mesa bought a mat to drain dishes she got it at Bed Bath and Beyond .  She really likes it.

Debbie from Gilbert just ordered a kitchen aid coffee maker with a built in grinder.

Debbie in Gilbert went to Anise Vietnamese Restaurant -2090 N Dobson Rd, Chandler AZ.  480.732.0777.   Debbie is the listener that turned us on to Anise.  She had the #18 rice noodle wonton shrimp – bean sprouts, basil leves, lemons, jalapenos. She really enjoyed it as she does everything on the menu.

John from Tempe went to Outback Steakhouse restaurant.  He enjoyed the prime rib.  He said it was very good, but he loved the broccoli.  He said it is the best broccoli he has ever had.

Debbie from Scottsdale had heard that the fish fry at Sign of the Whale was very good.  After looking at their website, it looks like they have a lot going on including  East Coast Swing , check out their website.
